The Morris Plains Police is currently accepting applications for the position of Class III Special Police Officer. All positions are part-time with compensation up to $30.00 per hour. Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

Must be a retired police officer who served as a duly qualified, fully trained, full time officer in any municipality or county of this state or a member of the New Jersey State Police
Law Enforcement retirement date must be less than three years from appointment date.
Must reside in New Jersey
Must be retired in good standing and must be able to produce a letter of good standing issued by the agency from which the officer retired that lists the date and type of retirement. (Copy will be provided to the Police Training Commission)
Be less than 65 years of age at the time of appointment
 Must pass a psychological examination
Must pass a medical examination and have a doctor complete the PTC Medical Certification Form (Form PTC 8A)
Must produce a negative sample at drug screening according to the Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy
Must have a background check completed
Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License
Must possess a New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification
